Delhi Minister Orders Rohtak Road Repairs, Flyover Lighting Upgrade

Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh has ordered the re-carpeting of Rohtak Road, improved lighting and cleanliness beneath the Rani Jhansi Flyover, and drain desilting at Zakhira. The directions were issued during a Government on Wheels inspection across Central and West Delhi on Saturday.

Officials from the PWD, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), district administrations and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) travelled with the minister on a single bus. The group stopped at different locations to assess civic problems and assign responsibility for corrective action on the spot.

The inspection began at Panchkuiyan Road and covered Rani Jhansi Road, Idgah Road, the Rani Jhansi Flyover and the area beneath it. The route also included Rohtak Road, New Rohtak Road, Zakhira, Karampura Flyover, Patel Road and Shadipur before ending at Shankar Road.

Shopkeepers, commuters and residents raised concerns with the minister at several stops. The issues included potholes, inadequate pedestrian infrastructure, drainage problems, poor cleanliness and insufficient lighting under the flyover. Singh directed officials to complete the required work and return to the locations for a review of progress.

The Government on Wheels programme was launched last year to bring officials from multiple departments together for joint, on-site inspections. Its earlier phases covered East Delhi, Outer and Rural Delhi, and South Delhi. A follow-up review of Saturday’s directions will be conducted within a month, while similar tours are scheduled to continue across the capital.
