Jammu Reviews Progress of Highway Projects Across Division

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting on Thursday to review the district-wise progress of highway projects across Jammu Division. Discussions focused on land acquisition, revenue matters and other issues affecting the execution of projects being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), Project Beacon, Project Sampark and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The meeting reviewed the status of land acquisition cases, pending revenue matters and other bottlenecks affecting ongoing works in the division’s districts. Kundal held detailed discussions with Deputy Commissioners, revenue officers and representatives of executing agencies on the progress in each district and matters requiring immediate intervention.

The Divisional Commissioner directed district administrations, revenue authorities and executing agencies to maintain close coordination to resolve pending issues quickly. He instructed officials to examine all land-related matters on priority and settle them within a time-bound framework while following prescribed rules and procedures.

Departments were also directed to submit the required documents promptly, maintain regular coordination and take all necessary measures to remove obstacles affecting project execution. The administration was asked to ensure that unresolved land acquisition and revenue matters did not result in avoidable delays to the implementation of highway projects.

Kundal highlighted the importance of road infrastructure in improving regional connectivity and supporting socio-economic development, calling for coordinated action by all stakeholders. Representatives of Project Sampark briefed the meeting on the status and progress of its ongoing projects. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners from all districts of Jammu Division, NHAI Jammu regional officers, the Chief Engineers of Project Beacon and Project Sampark, the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department’s Chenab Zone, NHAI project directors, the Executive Director of NHIDCL and other senior officers, either in person or through virtual participation.
