Ministry sets up Control Room to Tackle Highway disruption during rains

In response to the disruption of vehicle movement on highways due to heavy rains, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has established a control room.

Operating round-the-clock, the control room's primary objective is to monitor and address issues resulting from heavy rainfall that affect the functioning of national highways across the country.

Staffed by officers from the Ministry of Road and Highway, the control room will actively receive calls from the public and government agencies. Upon receiving such notifications, the control room will promptly notify the relevant national highway implementing agencies to take appropriate actions in resolving the situation.

Furthermore, the control room will closely monitor electronic media platforms, including television channels, and gather information from regional offices. This comprehensive approach ensures that any problems encountered regarding the movement of vehicles on national highways are promptly reported and addressed.

The control centre aims to facilitate the immediate transmission of received information, allowing for swift implementation of remedial measures.
