NHAI to display details of highway passes at all toll plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed its field offices to prominently display detailed information about the ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’ at all fee plazas across National Highways under its jurisdiction. The initiative is aimed at enhancing transparency and user awareness regarding the availability, rates, and procedures for obtaining these passes.

According to the directive, information boards will be installed at visible locations such as fee plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry/exit points. The signage will be displayed in English, Hindi, and local regional languages to ensure accessibility for all users. NHAI has instructed that these boards be set up within 30 days, ensuring visibility both day and night as per applicable fee rules.

For broader dissemination, the details will also be available on the ‘Rajmargyatra’ mobile app and corresponding NHAI project websites.

Highway commuters can benefit from concessional passes that make travel more economical and convenient. The Local Monthly Pass facility applies to private vehicle owners residing within a 20 km radius of a fee plaza. Applicants must present an Aadhaar card, vehicle registration certificate, and proof of address at the plaza helpdesk, where passes are issued after document verification.

The Annual Pass, valid for one year or 200 fee plaza crossings, is available for private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. It can be purchased via the Rajmargyatra App for a one-time fee of Rs 3,000, and is digitally activated on the vehicle’s FASTag. This pass is accepted at around 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and expressways across India.

By ensuring the prominent display of this information, NHAI reaffirms its commitment to transparency, user convenience, and efficient toll management, making highway travel smoother and more informed for all commuters.
