Sikar Flyover Planned to Link Kalyan Circle with Fatehpur Road

Sikar is set to get a new flyover connecting Kalyan Circle with the recently built overbridge on Fatehpur Road, as the district administration works on a traffic plan for the city. District Collector Ashish Modi reviewed the proposed alignment and traffic arrangements on Wednesday with Superintendent of Police (SP) Praveen Nayak Noonawat, Municipal Council officials and Public Works Department (PWD) officials.

During the inspection, Modi examined service lanes being built on Piprali Road and Nawalgarh Road. Officials also discussed the city's long-standing waterlogging problem and the need for a permanent solution. The administration is preparing a proposal for the approach flyover under the state government's budget announcement, which will be sent for approval at the state level.

The Fatehpur Road overbridge has been opened to traffic on a trial basis, and the administration said the facility had improved traffic management. Officials are working towards a pre-planned traffic model, including diversions during monsoon waterlogging and new bus stops. Modi directed the teams to complete service lanes beneath the overbridge by 31 December. The lanes are being developed on all three sides of the newly constructed structure.

Noonawat separately reviewed traffic conditions near the bus stand close to Radhakrishna Maru School, the old police outpost and the PWD office. Discussions covered shifting the bus stand and organising fruit and vegetable carts to reduce congestion in the surrounding areas. Traffic in-charge Manoj Bhatiwad briefed officials on the proposed diversion arrangements and the locations where traffic pressure was being monitored.

The administration is considering moving the bus stand to a site near the old police outpost in Sabalpura to ease traffic in front of Radhakrishna Maru School. Traffic congestion at Dak Bungalow Tiraha was also reviewed. Fruit and vegetable vendors were also being considered for relocation beneath both bridges, as had been done earlier, to improve movement through the junction. The proposed flyover, service lanes and traffic changes are being examined as connected measures for smoother movement across Sikar.
