Tai Tagak Reviews Road Blockages and Projects in Kra Daadi

Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak concluded a two-day tour of Kra Daadi district on September 30 after reviewing recurring road blockages, a delayed bridge project and community-level welfare services. The visit brought together local officials, road agencies, contractors and residents to examine connectivity problems affecting remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

On September 28, Tagak inspected blockage points at Dokio Langpo, Langba and nearby stretches along the Joram–Koloriang road corridor. The locations experience repeated disruptions, particularly during the rainy season, affecting commuters, essential journeys and the movement of supplies towards Kurung Kumey and other administrative centres. Local organisations and affected families presented their concerns during the inspection.

The review focused on a permanent engineering response rather than repeated clearance of landslide debris. Tagak called for a detailed technical assessment of possible alternatives, including a viaduct bridge or tunnel. The All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association has also sought two viaducts on NH-713, including one at the Dokio Langpo sinking zone between New Palin and Old Palin and another at the Langba blockage point.

On September 30, Tagak inspected a pending bridge project near the Don Bosco junction and reviewed its progress with representatives of the agencies and contractors involved. Discussions covered the delay and engineering interventions, including a possible modification to the bridge design or construction of a retaining structure along the existing road alignment.

The infrastructure review was followed by a visit to the Anganwadi Centre at Jorung village, where Tagak participated in the Angan Milan Seva programme. He interacted with Anganwadi workers, helpers, ASHA workers and children. The visit highlighted the parallel need to improve physical connectivity and sustain community-level welfare delivery in a geographically challenging district. A permanent solution to the road disruptions will require technical planning, funding and coordination among the agencies responsible for the corridor.
