TN Invites Tenders for Lighthouse-Thiru Vi Ka Bridge Elevated Road

The Tamil Nadu government has initiated preliminary work on a proposed 4-km elevated road along one of Chennai’s key coastal stretches. The project is planned to connect the Lighthouse with Thiru Vi Ka Bridge in Adyar, covering an important section of the city’s coastal road network.

The Chennai City Roads Division of the Highways Department has invited tenders to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed infrastructure project. The report will establish the project details as the proposal progresses through the preliminary stage.

The estimated cost of preparing the DPR is Rs. 3.81 mn. The selected agency or contractor will be given 60 days to complete the assignment, according to details included in the tender process.

Interested bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs. 29,500. The tender does not prescribe any tender fee, and eligible contractors can participate in the bidding process.

The proposed elevated road is intended to address severe traffic congestion along Marina Beach Road, one of Chennai’s principal coastal routes. The DPR will examine and set out the details of the proposed 4-km connection between the Lighthouse and Thiru Vi Ka Bridge, including the scope of work required for the project to move ahead.

The tender represents an initial step towards developing the elevated corridor, with the detailed project report expected to provide the basis for further consideration by the state government and the Highways Department. No construction tender for the elevated road itself has been announced in the available information.
