Welspun Enterprises Wins Rs 73 Billion Pune Shirur Contract

Welspun Enterprises has secured a contract worth Rs 73 billion for the construction of a six lane partially elevated highway corridor on NH 753F in Maharashtra, the company said in a regulatory filing. The Letter of Award was issued on April 29, 2026 by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, which is implementing the project under a government to government arrangement between the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the state Public Works Department. The project will be delivered by Welspun Enterprises' roads vertical.

The awarded section covers the Pune–Shirur stretch from kilometre 10+600 to kilometre 64+000, with a design length of 53.4 km. It will be developed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer toll basis with a concession period of 29 years, including a four year construction phase. The corridor will be built as a six lane facility with partial elevation to ease capacity constraints on existing routes.

The company reported that the contract lifts its order book to about Rs 187.55 bn from Rs 133.41 bn as of 31 December 2025 after adjusting for recent execution. The portfolio spans water, tunnelling and transportation segments, and the latest award is expected to strengthen the roads business and rebalance segmental exposure. The firm characterised the addition as improving medium term revenue visibility.

Authorities said the corridor is expected to decongest traffic and support faster freight movement across industrial and residential nodes such as Wagholi, Kharadi, Lonikand, Ranjangaon and Shikrapur. The managing director indicated that the project will bolster the company’s project mix and provide longer term cash flow visibility under the concession model. Shares of Welspun Enterprises were trading at Rs 530.50 on the National Stock Exchange at 11:52 am, down Rs 9.60 or 1.78 per cent.
