42 Railway Stations in Telangana Being Modernised

Kishan Reddy said that 42 railway stations in Telangana are being modernised under an Indian Railways initiative to improve passenger services across the region. The minister indicated that the programme aims to upgrade basic infrastructure and enhance commuter experience at both major junctions and smaller stations. Officials noted that the modernisation drive is part of wider efforts to strengthen regional connectivity and operational efficiency.

The work will include improvements to passenger amenities, platform refurbishment, better signage and enhanced sanitation facilities to meet contemporary standards. Upgrades are also expected to focus on accessible facilities for elderly and differently abled passengers and on introduction of improved information systems. Railway authorities stated that safety enhancements and better crowd management arrangements will form part of the planning.

Implementation will be coordinated by the relevant railway divisions in Telangana and carried out in phases to minimise disruption to services. Funding and technical support will be mobilised through existing railway schemes and project management structures to ensure timely delivery. Local stakeholders are to be engaged to align station-level work with urban development and commuter needs.

Officials anticipate that the modernised stations will contribute to a more comfortable and efficient travel experience and support passenger growth in the coming years. The minister underlined continued attention to infrastructure modernisation across the network and to measures that enhance operational reliability. Further announcements on specific timelines and project milestones are expected from the railway administration.

Work at stations will also present opportunities for local contractors and suppliers and is expected to stimulate ancillary services around station precincts. Attention to cleanliness, landscaping and better commuter information is likely to make stations more user friendly and attractive. The railway administration plans to review progress periodically and adjust priorities based on passenger feedback and operational requirements.
