Advanced Signalling System To Be Commissioned At New Jalpaiguri Yard

"Northeast Frontier Railway will commission a Multi Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) at the New Jalpaiguri yard under the Katihar Division from July 26 to 28, affecting several Vande Bharat, Rajdhani and passenger services across the region, according to ANI. The work is part of a broader programme to modernise signalling infrastructure and improve operational safety at one of the busiest yards in the north east. During the commissioning period, a number of services will be cancelled, partially cancelled, diverted, rescheduled or regulated to allow engineers to carry out the upgrades.

Railway authorities have specified that Train No. 55749/55750 New Jalpaiguri–Haldibari–New Jalpaiguri Passenger will remain cancelled on July 28. The Howrah–New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express 22301, commencing on July 28, will terminate at Kishanganj and the sector between Kishanganj and New Jalpaiguri will be cancelled on that day. Similarly, the New Jalpaiguri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express 22302 will originate from Kishanganj with services between New Jalpaiguri and Kishanganj suspended on the same date.

Several long distance services have been rescheduled and diverted. The Silchar–New Delhi Express 14037 will depart two hours later at 21:10 on July 27, while the Guwahati–SMVT Bengaluru Express 12510 will leave at 7:45 instead of 6:15 on July 28. The New Alipurduar–Sealdah Express 13142 will depart one hour later at 12:50 on July 28. Premium trains including New Delhi–Dibrugarh Rajdhani 20504/12424 and Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani 20505/12423 and the Agartala–Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani 20501 scheduled to commence on July 27 will be diverted via Aluabari Road–Thakurganj–Siliguri–Gulma and will bypass New Jalpaiguri, making a temporary halt at Siliguri Junction.

Train No. 15631 Barmer–Guwahati Express commencing on July 26 may be regulated by around 60 minutes. Railway officials have advised passengers to verify revised stoppages and timings on the IRCTC website and official NF Railway social media channels before travel. The upgraded signalling system is expected to strengthen train detection, enhance reliability and facilitate smoother train movements once commissioning is complete."
