Prime Minister Narendra Modi while inaugurating the 17 km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, said the country's first RapidX train named 'Namo Bharat', offers a glimpse of the country's future and added, “Trinity of Amrit Bharat, Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat will become a symbol of modern railways by the end of this decade.” He said this train marks a historic moment for the entire country and that the nation's railway system will be transformed in the next 10 years. He informed that women make up the entire support staff and locomotive pilots of the Namo Bharat Train. RRTS is a new rail-based, semihigh- speed, high-frequency commuter transit system. With a design speed of 180 kmph, it is a transformational initiative, which is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting. A total of eight corridors have been identified to be developed in NCR, out of which three have been prioritised in Phase-I. The RRTS which is being developed in India at a cost of over Rs.300 billion is comparable to the best in the world.
