Mozambique Transport Minister Visits Delhi Metro

Mozambique’s Minister for Transport and Logistics Joao Jorge Matlombe visited the Delhi Metro on Thursday and reviewed the training and capacity-building initiatives undertaken by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The visit formed part of the minister’s engagement with the corporation’s programmes and operational training infrastructure.

Matlombe was accompanied by a delegation, which was welcomed at the DMRC Academy by Managing Director Vikas Kumar and Sanjay Jamuar, chief executive officer of Delhi Metro International (DMIL). Officials briefed the visitors on the training and capacity-building programmes being conducted by the corporation.

The delegation viewed documentaries covering the work of DMRC and DMIL during the visit. DMIL is a wholly owned subsidiary of DMRC and is involved in the corporation’s international activities, according to the information provided by the metro operator.

The visitors also toured the academy’s advanced training facilities. These included the Extended Reality Lab, the Metro Signalling Model Room, the Bogie Brakes Pneumatic Simulator and the RS-2 Driving Simulator, which are used to support practical and technology-based instruction.

Matlombe and the delegation later visited the Delhi Metro Museum at Supreme Court Metro station. The museum visit provided an overview of the evolution and achievements of the Delhi Metro network, completing a programme focused on training, technical facilities and the system’s development.

The visit highlighted the DMRC Academy’s role in building capabilities in metro rail operations and familiarising visiting officials with the systems used for instruction and simulation. It also presented the delegation with an overview of the organisation’s institutional growth and operational experience through the academy facilities and museum exhibits.
