Redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station To Be Inaugurated Virtually

Mangalagiri Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh has been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and will be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, according to PTI. The project, completed for Rs 125 million (Rs 125 mn), has delivered upgraded infrastructure and enhanced passenger amenities aimed at improving travel comfort and convenience. The works form part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to modernise stations and boost accessibility across the network.

The redeveloped station features a modernised station building and a newly constructed second?entry station building that houses a booking office, waiting halls and a VIP lounge. Improvements to the station façade and entrance areas have been carried out alongside spacious waiting halls, modern toilets, comfortable seating and clearer signboards. New platform shelters have been added on platforms one and four, while lighting and landscaping have been enhanced to improve the passenger environment.

A focus of the redevelopment has been passenger comfort and accessibility. The station now includes two lifts, ramps and tactile pathways for visually impaired passengers, together with accessible toilets to support Divyangjan and senior citizens. Circulation within the station has been made smoother to aid movement from entry to platform and to facilitate boarding, with layouts designed to reduce dwell times and aid passenger flow.

Surrounding areas have been upgraded to support smoother movement and reduce congestion. Front and rear circulating areas now provide dedicated parking spaces, pedestrian pathways, street lighting and lane markings, while wider entry and exit gates and improved access control are expected to ease crowd management during peak hours. The combination of building upgrades and external works is intended to offer daily passengers a more convenient and safer travel experience.
