RITES Secures Rs 792.2 Million Patna Metro Consultancy Contract

RITES has secured a consultancy contract worth Rs 792.2 million (mn) to provide consultancy services for the implementation of the Patna Metro Rail Construction Project. The assignment is scheduled to be executed over a period of 68 months and was awarded by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. The company stated that the order is not a related party transaction and that neither its promoters nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding authority. The filing specified that the contract value is exclusive of Goods and Services Tax.

The domestic infrastructure consultancy assignment will involve consultancy, design, project management and engineering services for the construction project. The latest order adds to RITES' consultancy order book and reinforces its position as one of India’s leading engineering and project management consultants for transport infrastructure projects. The company has built experience through involvement in metro projects across several Indian cities. It will coordinate with the client and other stakeholders to meet project milestones and align technical deliverables with urban planning objectives.

The Patna Metro project is expected to play a key role in easing urban congestion, improving public transport connectivity and supporting Bihar's infrastructure development. RITES will leverage its technical and managerial capability to support project implementation, drawing on best practice from its earlier assignments. The company intends to apply lessons from earlier city projects to manage timelines and quality control throughout the assignment. The contract strengthens the firm’s metro rail portfolio and secures work that will span multiple years.

The award reflects continuing demand for specialised consultancy in India’s fast growing metro sector and will contribute to the company’s revenue visibility. The execution timeline of 68 months provides a clear delivery horizon for consultancy activities and project management milestones. Stakeholder coordination and adherence to regulatory approvals will be critical elements during the 68 month execution period. The order underscores the strategic relevance of urban transport consultancy services for city level infrastructure development.
