ZF India unveils advanced railway dampers at IREE 2025

ZF India Pvt Ltd has introduced its latest range of advanced railway dampers for the Indian market at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, strengthening its position in the nation’s growing rail sector.

Designed for metro, semi-high-speed, high-speed, and locomotive applications, the new dampers promise enhanced reliability and durability tailored to Indian operating conditions. Featuring a maintenance-free twin-tube design, compact build, and customisable characteristic curves, they aim to improve passenger comfort and operational efficiency for rail operators.

With high dynamic stiffness and proven performance under extreme weather conditions, the dampers are engineered to reduce downtime and total cost of ownership. Production will take place at ZF’s Chakan plant in Pune, with all products validated to global ZF standards — reflecting the company’s focus on localisation and innovation.

Akash Passey, President – Region India, ZF Group, said, “India’s rail sector is undergoing a transformative phase with ambitious modernisation and high-speed projects. By introducing locally manufactured advanced dampers, we are reinforcing our commitment to the sector’s growth. These solutions merge ZF’s global technology expertise with localisation, ensuring superior performance suited to Indian conditions.”

Karsten Hofmann, Head of Sales – Special Vehicle and Railway Chassis Components, ZF Group, added, “The Indian rail market is poised for substantial growth. ZF remains committed to delivering world-class, locally produced products to support this transformation. Our advanced dampers embody our focus on quality, reliability, and innovation for the Indian rail ecosystem.”

Key features of ZF’s advanced rail dampers:

Maintenance-free twin-tube technology that reduces maintenance needs and enhances lifecycle performance.

High dynamic stiffness for reliable performance under India’s demanding rail conditions.

Customisable characteristic curves tailored to operator requirements.

Extended service life and ease of overhaul for long-term efficiency.
