Dhamra Port to commence service from April
The Rs 3,200-crore Dhamra Port in Orissa, a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), will commence operations next month. Dhamra Port Company (DPCL) has so far invested Rs 2,900 crore out of the total project cost of Rs 3,239 crore.
Situated between Haldia and Paradip, the port at Dhamra will be the deepest port of India with a draught of 18 m and accommodate super cape-size vessels up to 180,000 dead weight tonne (DWT).
