The Radiological Detection Equipments (RDE) installed at the Port Entry Gates including the gate at Extension Port (Zone-B) was recently inaugurated. RDE is mainly a detection device, which will provide a passive, non-intrusive means to screen all cargo vehicles and pedestrians for the presence of radioactive material. The equipment will alert the security personnel (CISF) by means of audio or visual alarm and a camera which is part of the equipment will record the number plate of the vehicle or image of the person in the event of an alarm.
