Deendayal Port Seeks Green Fuel Investments at Kandla Forum

More than 200 senior executives from Indian and international companies in hydrogen, clean energy and maritime industries attended Kandla Forum 2026, hosted by the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA). The port authority aims to convert industry interest in green fuels into investments, technology collaborations and projects at Kandla.

Held under the theme Anchoring Maritime Decarbonisation, the forum included representatives of 62 Hydrogen Council member companies. Manufacturers, energy developers, shipping and shipbuilding firms, financial institutions and other stakeholders discussed opportunities across the green-energy value chain.

The discussions focused on expanding Kandla’s green-hydrogen ecosystem and developing facilities for derivatives such as green ammonia, methanol and e-fuels. Participants also examined maritime bunkering, shipbuilding, engineering and financing mechanisms for green-energy projects.

DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh presented the port’s existing green-energy infrastructure and planned projects to visiting executives. The discussions covered the availability of power, water and land, along with infrastructure for green hydrogen and its derivatives, methanol bunkering facilities and potential investments and joint ventures.

DPA said the forum was intended to connect companies with port authorities and facilitate investment, technology deployment and industrial partnerships. Kandla currently operates a 1 MW green-hydrogen plant, while additional facilities are under development. The port has also completed a methanol bunkering trial described by DPA as India’s first and is developing infrastructure for green hydrogen and its derivatives.

Delegates toured an upcoming e-methanol facility, the green-hydrogen plant at the oil jetty and the cargo jetty area. They also discussed green shipbuilding, ship repair and methanol bunkering with DPA officials. A technology exhibition in Gandhidham displayed equipment and solutions from participating companies. Kandla is also an anchor port in studies for an India-Europe green shipping corridor, while its port infrastructure, land, power and water resources support efforts to develop green-fuel production, exports and maritime use.
