BBMP recently carried out an inspection, and has sent a detailed project report (DPR) to the state government seeking funds.

According to the DPR, which has now been submitted to the government, the signal-free corridor's requirement on the Tumkur road is due to heavy traffic congestion. According to officials, Goraguntepalya junction on Tumkur road sees nearly 1,000 vehicles stopping at the signal during weekends.

Bengaluru ranked sixth among 10 cities with the worst traffic in the TomTom World Traffic Index 2020.
