CIDCO Unveils Plan for India’s First Indoor Mega Arena

Navi Mumbai is poised to become a major force in India’s entertainment landscape as the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) to develop the country’s first multi-purpose indoor live entertainment arena. The proposed world-class venue will host concerts, international sporting events, cultural festivals and large-scale immersive experiences.

Inspired by renowned global venues such as New York’s Madison Square Garden and London’s O? Arena, the arena will feature 20,000 seats and a standing capacity of 25,000, making it the largest indoor facility of its kind in India. The EOI document will be available from 9 December, with submissions due by 30 December at 5 pm.

CIDCO Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal said the project represents more than just infrastructure development. “By initiating this project, we are not just building a venue; we are laying the foundation for a cultural and economic movement that will put Navi Mumbai on the global entertainment map,” he said.

The arena will benefit from Navi Mumbai’s growing connectivity, supported by the Atal Setu Trans-Harbour Link, high-speed rail corridors, the upcoming Metro network and the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The city’s existing sports and tourism infrastructure — including Kharghar’s FIFA-compliant sports complex, an 18-hole golf course and the Nerul Jetty — further strengthens its suitability for hosting international-scale events.

With global partnerships anticipated, CIDCO aims to position Navi Mumbai as India’s live entertainment hub, creating jobs, boosting tourism and opening new avenues for business and cultural exchange.
