Kerala Launches Rs 11 Billion Palakkad Smart City Project
The Kerala Government has initiated the first phase of the Palakkad Smart City project, investing Rs 11 billion to develop an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster over 1,400 acre in Puthussery Central and Kannambra. This project, part of the Kochi–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, includes infrastructure such as roads, drainage, bridges, water supply, firefighting systems, wastewater recycling, sewage treatment, and power distribution. Managed by the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC), a joint venture between the state and central governments, the project aims to boost industrial growth and employment in the region.

Salzer Secures Rs 1.92 Billion BBMP Lighting Contract
Salzer Electronics has secured a Rs 1.92 billion contract from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to enhance energy efficiency in Bengaluru's East and Bommanahalli zones. The project involves installing a Centralised Control and Monitoring System and replacing conventional lights with energy-efficient LED lamps. In partnership with Schnell Energy Equipments, Salzer aims to complete the project within eight months. This initiative marks Salzer's return to energy-saving projects after a five-year hiatus.

MCD Launches Digital Parking at Eight Delhi Sites
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced a digital parking system at eight key locations, including Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Nehru Place, Shastri Park, and Kashmere Gate ISBT. This initiative enables cashless payments via FASTag for four-wheelers and UPI for two-wheelers. A centralized dashboard monitors real-time parking activity, enhancing transparency and efficiency. The MCD has invited bids from private operators to manage the system, aiming to reduce congestion and improve urban mobility in Delhi.

IPSCDL Completes Central Panaji Road Surfacing
Imagine Panaji Smart City Development (IPSCDL) has completed the final bituminous surfacing of 6.850 km of roads in Central Panaji under the Smart City Mission. Executed in three phases, the project encompassed major roads like MG Road, TB Cunha Road, and 18 June Road, with minimal traffic disruptions. Upcoming enhancements include traffic signage and road painting by May 31, followed by climate-resilient landscaping in June. Additionally, 3 km of concrete work on St. Inez Road is nearing completion, and roads near Café Bhonsle Square have reopened, improving urban mobility.

Agartala Smart City Nears Completion 
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that over 95 per cent of the Agartala Smart City Mission is complete, with 62 out of 65 projects finalised. The remaining three projects—airport road expansion, MBB College Lake revitalisation, and a children's park—are slated for completion by May 2025. The total project cost is Rs 5.04 billion, funded in a 90:10 ratio by the central and state governments, respectively. The Smart Cities Mission is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2025, with no extensions announced.
