Greater Noida to get fifth sewage plant in next three years

In three years, the Greater Noida Authority will construct its fifth sewage treatment plant (STP) in Sector 1 of Greater Noida (west), with an installed capacity of 80 MLD.

The project will cost Rs 60 crore, and it will be completed in four phases over three years, with the first phase delivering 20 MLD of water.

Officials told the media that tendering for the STP will be completed by December.

STP treated water can be used for irrigation and construction on construction sites throughout the area. Officials told the media that this will also reduce groundwater use.

Greater Noida currently operates four STPs with varying capacities in various parts of the city.

Narendra Bhooshan, CEO of GNIDA told the media that to meet the needs of Greater Noida's growing population, an STP with an 80 MLD capacity has been established. Its tender is almost ready to be floated. It will deliver 20 MLD of water in the first phase, and then it will be expanded as needed.

Officials told the media that the STP's phased construction will help save electricity.

There are about 200 builder societies in Greater Noida (west). Many of them are occupied, while others are expected to be handed over soon. As a result, the population of the area is expected to increase.

While the majority of large societies have their own STPs, some smaller societies, sectors, neighbouring villages, educational institutions, and industries in the area require an STP to treat sewer water.

As a result, the decision to establish an STP in Greater Noida (west) was made in light of these developments, according to Bhooshan. There will be four phases to the construction of the STP.
