The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced a pilot project, GreenTags, in Malabar Hill to improve waste management and segregation practices. This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of waste collection and recycling processes in the area.

The GreenTags project involves the use of smart tags that are attached to waste bins. These tags are equipped with technology that helps in monitoring waste segregation and provides data for better management. The aim is to streamline waste sorting at the source, ensuring that recyclable and non-recyclable materials are properly separated.

By implementing this pilot project, BMC seeks to address challenges in waste management and promote better recycling practices among residents. The success of this initiative in Malabar Hill will be evaluated before potentially expanding it to other parts of Mumbai.

This move is part of a broader effort to enhance environmental sustainability and improve the city?s waste management infrastructure. Through community engagement and innovative technologies, the GreenTags project hopes to foster a more effective waste management system, contributing to cleaner and greener urban living.
