ASAPP Media organises India Rail Conference

The 2nd Annual International India Rail Conference was organised by ASAPP Media Information Group on May 14, 2010 in New Delhi. The conference centred on the theme of “Accelerating growth through ports connectivity, PPP and Technology”. It was conducted with the support and association of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, India - CILT, Foundation of Infrastructure Research Studies Training - FIRST, Nextt the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

KBL Mittal, Director General, RSDO, the Guest of Honour, inaugurated the conference while the keynote address was delivered by KC Jena, Former Chairman Railway Board. The welcome address was delivered by Pratap Vijay Padode, Editorin-Chief and Managing Director, ASAPP Media Information Group.

The conference through its technical sessions focused and deliberated on key issues which the rail sector is striving hard to achieve; expansion and modernisation of rail network, rail-port connectivity - issues and challenges, technology up-gradation and innovation, and development of container operations. The concluding session was the panel discussion namely, ‘The Way Forward.’

The conference was attended by 148 delegates including policy and decision makers from the industry and Central government, railway professionals, technology providers, professionals from port, coal and power sector companies, private rail operators, etc.

Some of the eminent speakers at the conference included DT Joseph, Ex-Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, Govt of India; BK Chaturvedi, Member, Planning Commission and Pradeep Bhatnagar, Advisor-Infrastructure, Railway Board, among others.
