Dalmia Cement receives green accreditation from GRIHA

A major Indian cement firm, Dalmia Cement Limited, has become the first cement manufacturing company to receive a Green Accreditation from the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) council.

GRIHA Council is a national rating system for green buildings in India, which was jointly set up by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Government of India to fight climate change.

With a capacity of 33 million tonnes (mt), Dalmia Cement is the fourth largest cement company in India and a pioneer in green cement manufacturing. It has received its enlistment for its blended cement products in the GRIHA Green Catalogue.

Senior Executive Director and Head of Sales, Marketing and Logistics of Dalmia Cement, Sanjay Wali, said that the company feels pride in receiving green accredation from GRIHA. It is a step towards the journey of creating a positive impact on the environment, and furthering the business of clean and green is profitable and sustainable. The company will continue to practice its business on reducing carbon footprints and transition to green business.

The company's blended cement products were evaluated by the GRIHA council and listed under green products in the GRIHA Green Catalogue under sustainable building materials. Subsidiaries of Dalmia Cement Limited, including Dalmia DSP Cement, Dalmia Cement, Dalmia Infra Pro, Konark Cement, Dalmia Infra Green and Dalmia Insta Pro, are also enlisted.

The company aims at becoming carbon negative by 2040 and ranked first in the global cement sector by Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) on business readiness for a low-carbon economy.
