Peabody Energy and ArcelorMittal are set to acquire Macarthur Coal following their $5 bn takeover offer. Peabody won the support of one of the shareholders, ArcelorMittal, and lowered the acceptance threshold to 50 per cent from 75 per cent, making it possible to go ahead with the takeover without the support of other key shareholders, Posco and Citic.Contact: ArcelorMittal.
