JP Power to start generation at Karcham Wangtoo hydro project by March

JP Power Ventures which is setting up the 1,000 mw Karcham Wangtoo hydropower project on Satluj river will commission the first unit of the 250 MW by March, six months ahead of schedule. With this, Jaypee will be the largest private sector hydropower plant in the country. The other three units are scheduled for synchronising by June. The project is estimated to cost about Rs 7,000 crore.
