Sembcorp's AP unit ready for operations

Sembcorp Gayatri Power has synchronised the first 660 MW unit of its 1,320 MW power plant in Andhra Pradesh to the grid. The company already owns and operates one of the two super critical coal-fired power plants in the 2,640 MW Sembcorp Gayatri Power Complex in Krishnapatnam in Nellore district. The first 1,320 MW power plant by the SPV-Thermal Powertech Corporation India had commenced full commercial operations in September 2015 and was supplying power to the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The second power plant is expected to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2016.
