ACME Solar Commissions Additional 155 MW BESS in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings Limited (ACME Solar) has commissioned an additional 155 MW and 470.25 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System capacity in Rajasthan, bringing its total commissioned BESS to 297.67 MW and 951.74 MWh. The installations are connected to the inter-state transmission system and will operate on a merchant basis to capture price differentials between peak and non-peak demand hours. The projects are designed to enhance grid reliability and optimise power utilisation by charging during non-peak periods and discharging during peak periods.

The additional projects increase the company's operational BESS portfolio across its special purpose vehicles while leaving total planned BESS capacity across the SPVs at 835 MW and 3,114.64 MWh. These assets will play a role in balancing energy supply and demand and in improving overall grid stability. They are expected to provide flexibility to manage variability from renewable sources.

ACME Solar is a leading integrated renewable energy player with a diversified portfolio of 8,071 MW spanning solar, wind, storage, FDRE and hybrid solutions, and with an operational contracted capacity of 2,978 MW and approximately 1.0 GWh of BESS capacity. The company has an under construction contracted capacity of 5,093 MW including about 16 GWh of BESS installation, with an under construction PPA signed portfolio of 3,292 MW. An in-house engineering, procurement and construction division and operations and maintenance division support end-to-end project delivery.

The merchant model is expected to generate additional revenue through arbitrage between peak and non-peak prices while supporting grid flexibility and higher utilisation of renewable generation. The newly commissioned capacity will enable further integration of variable renewable energy and contribute to capacity firming.
