Actis Launches Fourth Renewable Platform in India, Targets over 3 GW Capacity

Actis, the sustainable infrastructure arm of General Atlantic, has launched Leo Energies, its fourth renewable energy platform in India. The platform is targeting more than 3 GW of onshore wind, solar and battery storage capacity, according to a statement issued on September 30, 2026.

Leo Energies has signed agreements to acquire about 650 MWp of operational solar capacity. Approximately 160 MWp of that capacity has been completed, including 110 MWp acquired from TrueRE Oriana Power. The company has not disclosed the total value of the transactions.

The platform’s near-term pipeline includes additional acquisitions and greenfield power purchase agreement (PPA) auctions. Its planned portfolio is intended to combine operating renewable assets with new projects secured through competitive procurement processes.

Actis has previously established three renewable energy platforms in India: Ostro Energy, Sprng Energy and BluPine Energy. BluPine Energy, the current platform, has exceeded 3 GW of capacity since its launch in 2022. Bloomberg has reported that Actis is planning to invest about $2 bn in its new renewable energy business in India.

Actis said Leo Energies would focus on building contracted independent power producers with clearly visible revenues and potential for returns. The strategy is expected to draw on auction-led growth, increasing demand from commercial and industrial customers, domestic financing and interest from strategic buyers.

India’s renewable energy market is being supported by rising electricity demand and energy security requirements. Through Leo Energies, Actis is seeking to expand its presence across multiple technologies while increasing its operating and development portfolio in the country.
