Bajel Projects Secures 500 kV Transmission Line Order in Egypt

The agreement for Lot 1 and Lot 5 was signed at a ceremony held in Cairo, marking Bajel Projects’ expanding presence in the MENA region and strengthening its position as an international EPC partner in high-voltage power transmission.

The agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO, Bajel Projects Limited, in the presence of H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with senior officials from Egypt and India.

The ceremony was attended by Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairman, Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), and Eng. Ahmed Fathy, Head of Central Projects Sector, EETC.

The combined order, valued at over Rs 400 crore, falls under the ultra-mega category and forms part of Egypt’s national grid reinforcement programme. The project aims to strengthen the country’s high-voltage transmission network and support reliable power evacuation to meet rising industrial and economic demand.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO, Bajel Projects Limited, said that the project reflects global confidence in the company’s engineering capabilities, execution expertise and ability to deliver complex high-voltage infrastructure projects in international markets.

The agreement further enhances Bajel Projects’ position in the global transmission sector while complementing its domestic order book and recent international projects. The company has been expanding its MENA presence through its 50:50 joint venture with Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and its recently launched subsidiary, Bajel T & D Projects and Contracting, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The signing ceremony also highlighted the strengthening economic partnership between India and Egypt, with Indian engineering and infrastructure companies playing an increasing role in supporting power sector development across the region.

Through the 500 kV transmission line project, Bajel Projects aims to contribute to Egypt’s grid modernisation efforts while expanding its international footprint in power infrastructure.
