BHEL commissions 100-MW floating solar photovoltaic plant

A 100-MW floating solar photovoltaic plant at NTPC Ramagundam in Telangana was commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL). This plant is installed at natural reservoirs with the aim of conserving and preserving natural resources. This installation has been aligned with the government’s “Make in India” initiative as all the major components have an indigenous background.

Within 10 months, BHEL has successfully installed three floating solar projects – 25 MW at NTPC Simhadri, 22 MW at NTPC Kayamkulam, and 100 MW at NTPC Ramagundam.

Plants with a total capacity of 152 MW have been installed on a variety of water bodies, including natural reservoirs, man-made reservoirs, and saline back-water kayals. This plant, commissioned by the country's leading EPC player in the floating solar segment, features innovative engineering that ensures the aquatic ecosystem is preserved.

Smart Roads, Smarter India

India’s infrastructure boom is not only about laying more kilometres of highways – it’s about building them smarter, safer and more sustainably. From drones mapping fragile Himalayan slopes to 3D machine-controlled graders reducing human error, technology is steadily reshaping the way projects are planned and executed. Yet, the journey towards digitisation remains complex, demanding not just capital but also coordination, training and vision.Until recently, engineers largely depended on Survey of India toposheets and traditional survey methods like total stations or DGPS to prepare detai..
