CIL allots 17 mt coal under special e-auction scheme to power sector

The Coal India Ltd (CIL) allotted a 72.1% higher quantity of coal at 17.34 million tonnes to the power sector under the special forward e-auction scheme during the April-September term.

The state-owned firm had allotted 10.07 Million Tonnes (mt) of coal under the scheme in the year-ago period, as per the government data. CIL, one of the leading coal suppliers to the power sector, values more than 80% of the domestic coal generation.

Coal India Limited (CIL) is a coal mining and refining enterprise owned by the Government of India. It is under the control of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. It is headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
