JSP's Odisha plant will receive 1,000 MW of green energy from Greenko

A deal for the provision of 1,000 MW of green power has been struck between Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) and Greenko.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Greenko would provide clean energy for its steelmaking operations in Angul, Odisha.

The action was intended to lower CO2 emissions in line with ESG objectives. Using green energy will help Angul, Odisha, reduce CO2 emissions by almost 7 million tonnes yearly.

The proposed 1,000 MW of carbon-free electricity is intended to satisfy the Angul facility's current and future power needs.

The Off Stream Closed Loop Pumped Storage Project (OCPSP) that Greenko Group is now developing in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will provide energy storage capacity.
