NLC India's Ghatampur JV to supply 492 MW to Assam; signs power deal

NLC India's joint venture, Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power, has entered into a pact to provide electricity to Assam from its Ghatampur thermal plant. The agreement was signed between NUPPL and the Assam government, ensuring a steady supply of 492 MW of power from NUPPL's Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed at Bijulee Bhawan in Guwahati by NUPPL CEO CS Santhosh and Chandan Deka, Chief General Manager/Commercial & EE, APDCL. According to the agreement, NUPPL will supply 492.72 MW of power to the Assam government.

This arrangement will not only meet the increasing demand for electricity in Assam but also contribute to the development and progress of various sectors in the state.

In February, the power allocation from NUPPL's Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant was revised by the power ministry. As per the revision, Uttar Pradesh and Assam have been allocated 1,487.28 MW (75.12%) and 492.72 MW (24.88%) of power supply, respectively.

NLC India's CMD, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, expressed confidence in meeting the rising energy demands and driving progress in various sectors. He stated that the agreement with Assam for 492.72 MW demonstrates their commitment to contributing to the growth of Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and the entire country.
