No plans to launch solar ferry boats in Goa: Minister

The Goa government informed the state legislative assembly that there were no plans to introduce solar-powered ferry boats following a previous unsuccessful attempt. In response to a query from BJP MLA Sankalp Amonkar, State River Navigation Department Minister Subhash Phal Desai stated that the solar boat named St Pedro, which was commissioned in April 2022, did not generate any revenue as it operated without charging passengers.

The minister mentioned that the department had established the required infrastructure for the boat, which had a capacity to ferry 60 passengers
