NTPC Seeks Bidders for Green Hydrogen Project

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, has issued a tender for the development of a green hydrogen generation unit and electrolyzer for a 1 MW green hydrogen mobility project in Kandla, Gujarat. The initiative aims to bolster India's clean energy transition by integrating advanced hydrogen technology.

Tender Details and Timeline The bidding process is open to preselected manufacturers specializing in proton exchange membrane (PEM) and non-PEM technology systems. Bidders must submit their proposals by February 11, 2025, with bid openings scheduled for February 12. The project must be commissioned within 240 days of awarding, ensuring operational readiness by late 2025.

An earnest money deposit of Rs 2 million (~?23.2 lakh) is required from participants. Responsibilities for bidders include designing, engineering, equipment delivery, safety studies, electrical system charging, erection, commissioning, and testing. They must also secure land clearances and administrative approvals while finalizing vendors for the project.

Context of Green Hydrogen Expansion The Kandla project is part of NTPC’s broader ambition to achieve an annual production of 150 kilotons of green hydrogen by 2032. Recent advancements in India's hydrogen economy include:
