Orvakal Hub Targets 45,000 Jobs from Rs. 50 bn Investment

Andhra Pradesh’s Orvakal Industrial Hub is set to attract investments exceeding Rs. 50 bn and generate more than 45,000 direct jobs, according to Industries Minister TG Bharath. Proposed projects cover green energy, semiconductors, food processing and emerging technologies, while infrastructure works valued at Rs. 27.86 bn are progressing at the site.

The hub is being developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation along the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Corridor. The state government has positioned the project as a way to strengthen the regional economy, expand local employment and reduce migration among young people seeking work in other cities.

Agastya Green Energy is investing Rs. 78 bn in a proposed 12 GW solar complex, while Grydonn Energy is establishing a facility with an investment of Rs. 31.5 bn. The projects are expected to create requirements in engineering, construction, plant operations, equipment maintenance and renewable energy technology, although specific hiring estimates have not been disclosed.

Indichip Semiconductors plans to establish a Rs. 230 bn facility in partnership with Japan-based Yitoa Micro Technology. Semiconductor manufacturing is likely to require specialised workers in engineering, production, quality control and equipment maintenance. Reliance is also establishing beverage and food processing plants in the region, while Orvakal Drone City forms part of the wider development plans.

The projected employment impact will depend on the pace of project execution, facility commissioning and recruitment plans of individual companies. Training partnerships, vocational programmes and industry-led skill development could help prepare local workers for roles ranging from specialised technical positions to manufacturing, logistics and operational functions.

The government has not yet announced company-wise job estimates, local hiring commitments or phased recruitment schedules. Clearer timelines and sector-level employment data would help determine how investment commitments translate into jobs for Andhra Pradesh’s workforce.
