SAEL Starts 600 MW Solar Plant in Andhra Pradesh

SAEL has commissioned a 600 megawatt (MW) solar plant in Andhra Pradesh, the company said. The plant has begun commercial operations and will feed electricity into the state grid. The installation marks a substantial addition to utility scale solar capacity in the region and broadens the operational footprint of the developer.

SAEL indicated the facility will deliver renewable generation that contributes to decarbonisation of the local electricity mix and enhances energy availability. The project forms part of the company's strategic programme to expand large scale solar assets across states. Local authorities coordinated permitting and grid interconnection during the commissioning process.

Construction and commissioning involved engineering, procurement and construction phases carried out by SAEL and its partners. The project created employment opportunities during construction and established local operations and maintenance arrangements for ongoing activity. Ancillary benefits have included engagement of local suppliers and upgrades to nearby infrastructure.

Operational management will rely on remote monitoring and routine maintenance protocols to maintain output and asset health. The company has put in place long term commercial arrangements to deliver power and support grid stability in the region. Performance optimisation work is planned as part of regular operational procedures.

The plant's contribution to regional renewable capacity supports broader energy transition objectives and the growth of clean power generation in India. SAEL intends to continue deploying and commissioning similar utility scale projects to scale its renewable portfolio. The commencement at Andhra Pradesh represents a step in that execution plan.
