SJVN Rampur Hydro Power Station Sets Record Generation

SJVN Limited (SJVN) said that on 26 March 2026 the 412 megawatt (MW) Rampur Hydro Power Station (Rampur HPS) in Himachal Pradesh surpassed its highest-ever generation of 2,098.03 million units (mn units), a record previously set in FY 2019–20. The milestone was reported as the latest in a series of strong operational results since commissioning. The company framed the result as evidence of effective asset management and favourable hydrological conditions during the period.\n\nThe director of personnel, Ajay Kumar Sharma, witnessed the new record during a visit to the power house and interacted with the original equipment manufacturer and plant personnel, commending their dedication and commitment. He urged staff to continue striving for further improvements and noted the role of sustained operational focus in reaching benchmarks.\n\nVikas Marwah, head of project at Rampur HPS, attributed the achievement to visionary leadership, management support and collective teamwork, and dedicated it to all employees involved. Senior officials from neighbouring projects were present during the occasion and joined in recognising the performance. Since commissioning, Rampur HPS has consistently set multiple benchmarks in generation and already met its design energy target of 1,878 mn units for FY 2025–26 on eight December 2025, the company reported it as the fastest attainment since commissioning. Operational teams applied systematic maintenance regimes and performance monitoring to optimise generation.\n\nThe station’s robust output reinforces its role in regional power supply and contributes to broader energy objectives while underlining operational resilience. SJVN management indicated that continued attention to maintenance, plant optimisation and workforce training will be prioritised to sustain and build on current performance. The company signalled expectations of further achievements as it seeks to enhance reliability and generation efficiencies across its portfolio. The achievement is expected to bolster confidence among stakeholders and support planning for peak demand periods.
