Sterling and Wilson Secures Rs 12 Bn Solar EPC Contract in Gujarat

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy has been awarded a Rs 1,200 crore contract for a 500-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Gujarat, strengthening its foothold in India’s renewable energy sector.

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract encompasses the design, engineering, and installation of balance-of-system (BoS) components with single-point responsibility. It also includes operations and maintenance (O&M) services for three years.

“We are delighted to secure this significant order, which will aid India, especially Gujarat, in its transition to clean energy,” said Amit Jain, Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group, in the company statement.

Jain stressed that India’s emphasis on sustainable energy solutions is vital for addressing climate challenges, boosting energy security, and promoting economic development.

India has been significantly increasing its renewable energy capacity to achieve its goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

“India is one of the largest energy markets globally, and it must prioritise sustainable solutions to address climate challenges while enhancing energy security, creating jobs, and stimulating economic growth. We are optimistic about the future of India’s renewable energy sector and our expanding role in supporting its growth,” added Jain.

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy operates in 28 countries, with a portfolio exceeding 20.7 gigawatt-peak (GWp) of solar projects, including those at various construction stages. Its O&M portfolio spans 7.8 GWp, including projects developed by third parties.

The company offers EPC solutions for utility-scale solar, floating solar, and hybrid energy storage systems, catering to markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia, and the Americas.
