Sterlite Power rolls out Rs 1,662 cr transmission project in MP

Sterlite Power declared successful commissioning of the Khargone transmission project costing Rs 1,662 crore in Madhya Pradesh.

Sterlite Power Transmission Ltd, a top private sector power transmission infrastructure developer and solutions provider, declared the successful launch of the Khargone Transmission Ltd (KTL) project costing Rs 1,662 crore in Madhya Pradesh.

The project will evacuate 1,320 MW of power produced by the Khargone Power facility to a 765 kV Khandwa substation to further distribute it downstream across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

With the completion of the 765 kV D/C Khandwa - Dhule transmission line, all the components in the project are done and charged.

Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director, Sterlite Power, told the media that they are glad to attain the successful launch of the KTL project, which strives at solving the crucial challenge of energy delivery for the western and central region.

In April 2020, the firm had launched 5 out of 6 elements in the project which comprises a 400kV D/C Khandwa-Khargone transmission line, 765kV substation at Khandwa, 400kV LILO, 765kV DC Khandwa-Indore transmission line and Dhule bay extension. The firm had acquired KTL via tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).
