Sunsure Energy Signs 21 MWp Group Captive PPA in Rajasthan

Sunsure Energy has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SPR Auto Technologies and its subsidiary, SPR Takahata Precision India, covering 21 MWp of solar power backed by a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajasthan. The renewable power will be supplied to the companies’ manufacturing plants through a group captive structure.

The agreement will draw power from Sunsure Energy’s 81 MWp solar project in Mundsar, Rajasthan. Through the arrangement, the energy provider will establish a dedicated solar-plus-BESS facility for the two companies, supplying approximately 35 mn units of renewable electricity annually.

The power supply is expected to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by an estimated 24,840 t each year. The agreement supports the manufacturers’ efforts to increase renewable energy use across their Rajasthan operations while giving them access to firm clean power.

SPR Auto Technologies Executive Director Sumantra Mukherjee said renewable energy adoption formed an important part of the company’s sustainability strategy. The company aims to raise renewable energy consumption to 50 per cent by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, with the partnership expected to strengthen clean power access for its manufacturing operations.

Sunsure Energy Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Shashank Sharma said the agreement would support renewable energy adoption in manufacturing. He added that the partnership reflected growing demand for reliable and competitively priced clean power among Indian manufacturers and would help advance SPR Auto’s sustainability objectives.

Sunsure Energy is also developing a 200 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Sheo and 1 GW of inter-state transmission system-connected capacity in Rajasthan. It plans to commission close to 2 GW of solar, wind and battery storage capacity in the state by 2028.
