Suzlon secures 204.75 MW wind project from Jindal Renewables

Suzlon Energy has secured its third order from Jindal Green Wind 1, a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables, for a wind energy capacity of 204.75 MW. This order strengthens the ongoing efforts to support low-carbon steel production in India. With this latest agreement, Suzlon’s total wind energy supply to Jindal Renewables has reached 907.20 MW, making it the company’s largest order in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment.

Previously, Suzlon received two orders to power Jindal Steel's facilities in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, adding 702.45 MW to its renewable energy portfolio. The increasing demand from C&I customers has played a significant role in Suzlon's growth, with these clients now accounting for 59 per cent of the company’s total order book. As a result, Suzlon’s total order capacity has reached 5.9 GW, marking the highest in the company's history.

Under the new agreement, Suzlon will provide 65 advanced S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) equipped with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT), each with a capacity of 3.15 MW. The electricity generated from these turbines will be used for captive consumption in Jindal Steel's manufacturing units in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. This initiative will enhance the sustainability of steel production while contributing to India's broader renewable energy transition.

By expanding its partnership with Jindal Renewables, Suzlon continues to reinforce its position as a key player in India's wind energy sector. The collaboration aligns with the country's push for cleaner industrial operations and a reduced carbon footprint in steel manufacturing.
