Tata Power Auction Awards 250 MW FDRE Projects

Juniper Green Energy, Navayuga Engineering Company, ACME Solar Holdings, and Tata Power Renewable Energy have won Tata Power Company’s auction to supply 250 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) from projects integrated with energy storage systems, on a build-own-operate basis.

  • Juniper Green Energy secured 70 MW at Rs 4.76/kWh (~$0.0547).
  • Navayuga Engineering won 50 MW at Rs 4.76/kWh.
  • ACME Solar bagged 50 MW at the same tariff.
  • Tata Power Renewable Energy won the largest allocation of 80 MW at Rs 4.77/kWh (~$0.0548).
  • Separately, ACME Cleantech Solutions secured Solar Energy Corporation of India’s auction to supply 50,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme. ACME quoted a tariff of Rs 51.89 ($0.580)/kg tariff won earlier by Jakson Green. The green ammonia will be supplied to Coromandel International in Visakhapatnam for ten years.

At the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2025 in New Delhi, Inder Bhambra, Chief Business Officer at Envision Energy, highlighted the growing demand for hybrid renewable energy projects, the expiry of interstate transmission system waivers, and challenges for offshore projects. Jonas Dalsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer (Sustainable Energy) at Howden Group, emphasised that climate change risks should be factored into insurance policies to support renewable energy projects.

Upcoming industry engagements include Mercom’s Buyer-Seller Meet in Hyderabad on 21 August 2025, which will focus on bridging the gap between suppliers and buyers, enabling evaluation of localised, high-quality solutions, cost comparisons, and insight into industry trends.

Several other projects were also announced:

  • DHBVNL in vited bids to install four 2.5 MW/5 MWh standalone BESS with up to 30 per cent viability gap funding or Rs 2.7 million (~$30,850)/MWh.
