US expresses interest in continuing energy partnership with India

The US has expressed its interest in continuing the strong energy partnership with India.

US Energy Secretary, Jennifer M Granholm informed about the country’s interest in the partnership during a hearing on the department's budget by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

She told the lawmakers during the congressional hearing that she's interested in continuing to ensure a strong partnership between the US and India. There are a lot of energy tools that can help India to achieve its goal.

Senator Roger Marshall said there is an opportunity to help India with natural gas and to expand their natural gas to India. He asked Granholm about the Department of Energy's plan of strengthening the energy partnership through natural gas exports to India.

Interested in doing partnership through technologies that remove methane and reduce methane from the natural gas pipelines, production, and combustion, Granholm said.

She also said that this is another strategy that the US is working on to ensure that they can have carbon-free natural gas.
