Centre Approves Rs 118 Bn Expansion for Five New IITs
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a Rs 118.29 billion expansion plan for five Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established post-2014. These include IIT Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), IIT Palakkad (Kerala), IIT Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), IIT Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir), and IIT Dharwad (Karnataka).The investment, to be made over four years from 2025–26 to 2028–29, supports Phase-B construction aimed at enhancing academic and infrastructure capacity. Five Underpasses Planned in Gurugram Metro Phase 2
As part of the second phase of the Old Gurugram Metro project, five new underpasses will be constructed to ease congestion in key areas of the city, officials from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) have confirmed. India, Rhenus to Launch Barge Cargo Services on Waterways
In a major step towards enhancing green logistics, the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 6 May 2025 with global logistics firm Rhenus Logistics India Private Limited to commence barge cargo services across India’s key national waterways.Under the agreement, Rhenus will introduce 100 barges in phases, beginning with the deployment of 20 barges and six pushers.
