National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to build an elevated 5.2- km road stretch from near Swaminarayan Temple to Warje in a bid to level the slope along Katraj-Dehu Road bypass that has over the years attained the “killer road” tag. A detailed report on the Rs.42 billion project had been prepared. The Katraj-Dehu Road bypass was built nearly 30 years ago. Urban planning and road infrastructure experts are of the view that loopholes in terms of infrastructure and design are primary factors leading to accidents on the bypass.
