JSW Mangalore Container Terminal Pvt is likely to begin operations at the container terminal at New Mangalore Port via a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The commercial operations of the integrated container terminal at berth no 14 would take off by the fourth week of March. The container terminal would be built in two stages for a total cost of Rs 2.807 bn. The phase-1 of the project is almost complete. New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has proposed to build a new berth no 17 for multi-purpose cargo handling, which would be executed through engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.
