Powerscreen Marks 25 Years of Partnership with Voltas in India

Powerscreen, a global leader in mobile crushing, screening, and conveying equipment, has celebrated 25 years of partnership with Voltas, its first official distributor in India.

The appointment of Voltas (a Tata enterprise) in 2000 came at a crucial time for India’s mining and construction industry, when demand for mobile track-mounted plants was growing rapidly. Prior to this, most projects relied on stationary setups that required long installation times and presented logistical challenges.

“Voltas recognised the opportunity early and introduced Powerscreen’s track mobile plants to India, a move that reshaped infrastructure and mining projects across the country,” said Jaideep Shekhar, Vice President & Managing Director, Terex Materials Processing. “Over the past 25 years, our collaboration has delivered faster deployment, improved cost-efficiency, and significant value for customers.”

Voltas sold its first track-mounted Powerscreen unit to a highway construction customer near Bangalore, marking the start of a series of milestone deployments across India. Powerscreen equipment has since become a preferred choice for aggregates, iron ore, limestone, coal, bauxite, municipal solid waste, and riverbed material applications. Notably, Rungta Mines is now the largest Powerscreen fleet owner in India, operating 156 units.

Local manufacturing has also been central to this growth. Since 2010, machines produced at the Terex Hosur facility have enabled faster delivery, cost efficiency, and support tailored to Indian conditions, while also serving export markets.

“Powerscreen’s versatility has enabled Voltas to serve diverse sectors and adapt as market needs evolve,” said Chandrasekhar Venkataraman, Director, Commercial–Aggregates, Terex India. “This adaptability has been key to sustaining long-term growth.”

Customers have consistently cited responsive support and innovation as differentiators. Larsen & Toubro’s N K Palai noted: “My experience with Voltas and Powerscreen has consistently been excellent, with teams going above and beyond to meet critical business needs.”

Over the years, training initiatives and digital platforms such as the Dealer Portal and Help Desk have further enhanced customer support, underscoring Powerscreen and Voltas’ commitment to building a sustainable and future-ready crushing and screening ecosystem in India.
